What is the Diversity Toolbox?: The Diversity Toolbox is a set of consolidated exercises, tools, and strategies designed to unpack diversity and address the challenges of racism in work with youth. It’s created as a hands-on, accessible resource for professionals working with youth, their families, and colleagues. By using this toolbox, we hope you’ll feel supported in opening conversations about diversity, bias awareness, societal injustice, and intercultural dialogue – whether in classrooms, workshops, or extracurricular initiatives.

This toolbox is aimed at all those working with youth from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Whether you’re new to these conversations or looking to deepen your practice, the toolbox offers practical guidance tailored to your everyday reality.
This toolbox is developed within a Danish context. If you’re using it in another country, please adjust activities and examples accordingly to fit your local context.
Creating Safe Spaces: A Note to Facilitators
As a facilitator, it’s important to consider the group you’re working with. Some activities may touch on sensitive topics such as discrimination or racism. This requires a safe and trusting group environment. Always check in with the youth and adapt accordingly.
Never frame racism or discrimination as an individual issue. Discuss these topics as societal challenges using general examples. Avoid placing the burden on minority youth to speak on behalf of their identity or experiences. The toolbox is divided into key areas, each offering topic-specific tools and approaches, including supporting resources such as sample syllabi, inspirational materials, guidance on safe space facilitation, templates, readings, and more to deepen your practice.
