Cultural Connections: Crafting tools for youth professionals

Project Background:

This project aims to strengthen the capacity of professionals in the social and educational field with intercultural communication skills to create positive change, safe spaces, agency, and inclusion for ethnic minority youth. We want to educate and support social and educational workers who interact with ethnic minorities in their everyday occupations. We will together develop tailored and practical tools for their practice, providing them with new training opportunities and pedagogical tools.

On top of already established best practices based on our experience in the field and literature reviews, we are collecting advice and suggestions for change from youth with ethnic minority backgrounds to strengthen their voices and become aware of blind spots.

Events and trainings:

From May 13 -15, take part in a free 3 day training for teachers, pedagogues, social workers etc. working with children and young adults in Sweden and Denmark. Tailored and practical tools for inclusion & safe spaces, in this training you will meet tailored and practical tools for practice, providing participants with new training opportunities and pedagogical tools.

On top of already established best practices based on lived experience in the field and literature reviews, we have collected advice and suggestions for change from professionals and youth with ethnic minority backgrounds to strengthen their voices and become aware of blind spots. The training will also be a cross-cultural experience as we are bringing professionals from Sweden and Denmark together to share experiences and ideas. This training is being held jointly with the Bring Hope foundation, as well as external experts and practitioners hosting small workshops and presentations during the three days to compliment the organizations.
